The Unix operating system is especially suited for linguistic- textual analysis. The host available by CISADU is a Pentium system (RAM 64 Mb, HD 2 Gb) based on Unix SCO Open Desktop operating system. This facility is suited for intensive data processing and is available to those who are involved in research projects.
CISADU supplies an access to Internet and to the Network Resources, WWW, E-Mail, Discussion Lists, Terminal Access to Network Hosts.
Those who are interested in this resources can ask for an account at the Center and become known user of the system.
You can make the request at the Center, filling up an application form and signing the scientific Network GARR rules.

This introductory course has the aim to introduce the participians into the world of Internet. It will also introduce Internet resources and applications, such as electronic mail, transfer files, log on to remote databases.

The course is aimed at explaing the basic principles of "generic coding" and particularly Standard Generalized Markup Language. This will be a necessary introduction to HTML, as application of SGML.

CISADU gives advice about the acquisition of hardware and the choice of the best pattern for the task to take upon.
The staff of CISADU supplies also information about application software on the market, especially about the packages that are available at the Center.
Application software with special requirements can be developed within research projects, in which CISADU is involved.
CISADU supplies a service of text formatting and camera ready. The files can be supplied in one of the most common Word Processors.
The staff of the CISADU provides a service of information retrieval through the Internet resources in the field of the humanities.
